Key Responsibilities Develop and optimize CNC programs for lathe operations using CAM software and manual G-code. Select appropriate tooling, workholding, and cutting parameters for various materials and part geometries. Analyze engineering blueprints and 3D models to determine efficient machining strategies. Collaborate with machinists to troubleshoot program issues and improve process efficiency. Create and maintain accurate setup sheets, tool lists, and program documentation. Conduct test runs and make necessary program adjustments to ensure part quality and dimensional accuracy. Implement process improvements to reduce cycle times and extend tool life. Recommended Qualifications Proficiency in G-code and M-code programming for 2-axis and multi-axis CNC lathes. Demonstrated expertise with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidCAM) for generating toolpaths. Ability to accurately interpret complex engineering blueprints and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) specifications. Strong understanding of cutting tool selection, feeds, speeds, and machining strategies for various materials. Experience with machine setup, program prove-out, and troubleshooting of CNC lathe operations. Bonus Qualifications Experience programming multi-axis mill-turn or 5-axis milling machines. Proficiency in CAD design for fixture development or part modification. Demonstrated experience in G-code optimization or post-processor development. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
