Senior Node.js Engineer (Contract)

Contract Details: Location: Remote (Based in New Zealand) Engagement Type: Self-employed / Contractor (Full-time) Compensation: NZ$8,000-10,000/month Client Context: Supporting a high-growth APAC-based technology client. The Opportunity HI Technology & Innovation, a London-based technology consultancy, is seeking a high-caliber Senior Node.js Engineer based in New Zealand. You will be a critical part of a high-growth engineering ecosystem, supporting a platform designed for high throughput and complex integrations. While you will be contracted by HI Technology & Innovation, you will be working with our client's engineering team in Asia-Pacific (APAC). We are looking for an experienced problem solver, someone who can take ownership of IP generation and architectural solutions rather than just executing tickets. Key Responsibilities Lead Engineering: Take ownership of complex backend features using Node.js and TypeScript. Architectural Influence: Act as a solution architect within your domain, ensuring the platform remains scalable and secure. Collaboration: Work closely with a hybrid team of senior engineers and augmented international teams. Delivery Excellence: Maintain high-velocity output to meet a demanding and fast-paced product roadmap. Requirements Senior Expertise: Proven experience in software engineering, with deep expertise in Node.js. Technical Stack: Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern full-stack or backend architectures. Problem-Solver Mindset: A track record of solving complex architectural challenges and generating intellectual property. Self-Managed: Ability to thrive in a 100% remote environment while staying tightly aligned with APAC-based time zones. Regulated Industry Experience: Experience in highly regulated industries (e.g., Fintech, FX, or Payments) is a significant plus.
