Senior System Design Engineer

About the position

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and driven Component Owner for Speakers to take a leading role in the development and quality assurance of our in vehicle audio experience. In this role, you will: * Own the speaker component and related tuning activities within the Audio team. * Drive the evaluation, specification, validation and tuning of speakers in different truck cabins and configurations. * Work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders (hardware, software, installation, purchasing, quality, project management) andto secure best in class audio performance and robust deliveries. This is a consultant assignment with a strong operational focus, where you will combine technical expertise, supplier management and cross functional collaboration to deliver premium audio experiences to our customers. Key Responsibilities (Component Owner – Speakers & Tuning) * Technical ownership of speakers * Define and maintain requirements and specifications for speakers and related installation concepts. * Evaluate new speaker technologies and components for current and future platforms. * Ensure technical compatibility and integration with amplifiers, microphones and the overall audio system. Speaker evaluation, tuning and verification * Perform and/or lead audio measurements, validation and benchmarking using relevant tools and equipment. * Adapt and optimize speakers for new cabins and existing setups, ensuring consistent audio quality across the portfolio. Project management and planning * Take end‑to‑end ownership of speaker‑related activities within projects and product updates, from early concept to industrialization. * Create and maintain plans, schedules and milestones for your components and tuning activities, and track progress against them. * Identify and manage risks, dependencies and issues, escalating when needed and driving mitigation actions. * Prepare and present status updates and decision material to project leaders and management. Supplier and stakeholder management * Act as the primary operational interface towards speaker suppliers, ensuring clear communication of requirements, milestones and quality expectations. * Follow up supplier deliveries, test results and deviations, and drive problem solving activities together with suppliers and internal teams. * Secure cross functional alignment and business anchoring of technical choices and design decisions (e.g. with purchasing, projects, quality, design, aftersales). Documentation and lifecycle management * Document component development, test results, tuning parameters and design decisions in a structured way. * Contribute to design guidelines, best practices and standards for speakers and audio tuning. * Support project planning and risk management for audio related deliveries within your responsibility area. Desired Qualifications Technical competence * Experience in speaker and audio technology * Hands on experience with audio measurement and evaluation tools (e.g. acoustic measurement systems, analyzers, simulation tools). * Good understanding of electro acoustics, signal flow, amplifiers and in vehicle acoustics. Project management skills * Demonstrated experience in planning, leading and following up technical activities or work packages. * Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and tasks, handle priorities and keep deadlines. * Experience from automotive development projects * Any formal project management training or certification is considered an advantage. Education and background * Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, Audio Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus. * Prior experience from similar roles managing components and suppliers (e.g. component owner, system engineer, audio engineer) in automotive is highly valued. Soft skills and way of working * Strong Project management & communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics to both specialists and non specialists. * Proven ability to collaborate effectively in cross functional and multicultural teams, as well as to work independently. * Structured and proactive, with the ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple parallel tasks and projects. * Comfortable taking ownership and driving decisions within your area of responsibility. * Strong positive can-do approach.
