Purpose of the role As a Kafka Software Engineer, you will ensure that the event streaming platform is robust, scalable, and future-ready. You will drive platform architecture, operational excellence, automation, and developer enablement while continuously improving reliability and performance. What you’ll do Design, build, and operate the enterprise Kafka platform Ensure strong architecture, scalability, and reliability Automate lifecycle management, deployments, and operations Improve monitoring, logging, dashboards, and observability Provide 3rd level support and incident resolution Enable self-service capabilities for development teams Guide teams on Kafka best practices and onboarding Establish and maintain reference architectures Maintain technical documentation and standards Continuously modernize the event streaming ecosystem Your main responsibilities Ensure the Kafka platform delivers all required capabilities Build and maintain a unified company-wide streaming platform Support migrations to the centralized Kafka offering Assist product teams with Kafka design and integrations Provide onboarding and enablement support Maintain platform reliability and operational excellence Required skills and experience 5+ years of experience designing and implementing solutions using Apache Kafka Strong hands-on experience operating Kafka clusters in production Experience running Kafka on Kubernetes Experience with: Strimzi Kafka Connect kSQL MirrorMaker 2 Schema Registry Strong knowledge of event-driven architecture Experience with automation and self-service platform engineering Solid understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles Strong software development fundamentals and coding practices Experience with CI/CD, testing, and code reviews Excellent communication and collaboration skills Nice to have Experience building internal platforms or developer tooling Cloud-native and containerized environments Integration platform or enterprise messaging experience
