Job Description: POSITION: Engineering Technician (General) Reports to: Chief of Engineering & Maintenance Location: Jamaica Job Level: Full-time/On-site JOB PURPOSE The Engineering Technician (General) will ensure the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines, following diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer's instructions and engineering specifications and troubleshooting malfunctions. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and listen for problems using precision measuring and testing instruments Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, use rules, calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments Maintain equipment, parts and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipate needed equipment, parts and supplies, place and expedite orders and verifying receipt Remove defective parts by dismantling devices, use hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; and examine form and texture of parts Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends Aid operations in running machines at standard speeds and centerline conditions to enhance productivity and efficiency Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations when working with equipment and machinery EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: BSc. in Engineering this can be in Electronical, Industrial or Mechanical / related field with a minimum of three (3) years experience or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of five (5) years experience HEART Level 3 Certification in Industrial Plant Maintenance would be an asset Experience in the food industry would be an asset SKILLS/COMPETENCIES/SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Ability to pay attention to details. Good organizational and coordinating skills. Excellent troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve complex issues Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Team player with initiative and a positive attitude Must be results-oriented High level of professionalism and integrity Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Good interpersonal, organizing, planning and coordination skills Ability to work shifts including weekends, nights, and holidays
