About the position

Are you an experienced and caring SEN TA looking for a supportive role from January 2026? Would you like to join a proactive, inclusive primary school in Merton where tailored support and multi-disciplinary working are priorities? We are recruiting a committed SEN TA for a popular school in Merton. The SEN TA will deliver targeted one-to-one and small-group interventions, support classroom access, assist with sensory and communication programmes and contribute to personalised learning plans. This SEN TA post starts January 2026, with full induction and handover scheduled before January 2026 so the new SEN TA can begin the spring term confident and prepared to make an immediate impact in Merton. Position details Role: SEN TA — Merton Start date: January 2026 Contract: Permanent / Part-Time or Full-Time (school dependent) About the role The SEN TA will work under the direction of the SENCo to implement bespoke programmes, adapt lessons for accessibility and support pupils during whole-class teaching. The SEN TA will be involved in delivering literacy and numeracy interventions, social skills groups and sensory regulation strategies. Based in Merton, the SEN TA will join a team committed to tracking measurable progress and sharing best practice. Key responsibilities Deliver planned one-to-one and small-group sessions and monitor their impact. Support pupils during whole-class activities by scaffolding tasks and modelling strategies. Assist with personal care, sensory breaks or behaviour-support routines where needed. Maintain accurate records of progress and prepare concise reports for reviews in Merton. Liaise with parents, therapists and class staff to ensure consistency of provision. Person specification Previous experience working with children with SEND and confidence delivering interventions as a SEN TA. Calm, adaptable and able to work collaboratively across the Merton school community. Excellent interpersonal skills and good organisational habits; ready to start January 2026 and attend pre-start induction in advance of January 2026.
