About the position

Are you an experienced and empathetic SEN TA looking for a role from January 2026? We are recruiting a committed SEN TA to join a busy but well-organised inclusion team in Merton. The SEN TA will deliver targeted one-to-one and small-group intervention, support classroom access, assist with sensory and communication programmes and contribute to personalised learning plans. This SEN TA vacancy starts January 2026, with induction and handover scheduled before January 2026 so the new SEN TA can begin the spring term confident and prepared. Position details Role: SEN TA — Merton Start date: January 2026 Contract: Permanent / Part-Time or Full-Time (school dependent) About the role As a SEN TA in Merton you will implement bespoke programmes under the guidance of the SENCo, adapt lessons to increase accessibility and run evidence-informed interventions. The SEN TA will support pupils across the curriculum, assist with personal care or sensory breaks when required and help maintain calm routines. The Merton school provides regular training so the SEN TA can develop practice and increase impact. Key responsibilities Deliver planned one-to-one and small-group sessions and track progress as a SEN TA. Scaffold whole-class tasks to enable participation and skill consolidation. Assist with sensory regulation, personal-care needs or behaviour-support plans where appropriate. Maintain accurate records and provide concise feedback at review meetings in Merton. Liaise with parents and external professionals to ensure consistent support. Person specification Prior experience supporting pupils with SEND and confidence delivering interventions as a SEN TA. Patient, adaptable and able to work collaboratively across the Merton school community. Strong record-keeping and communication skills; available to commence January 2026 and attend pre-start induction before January 2026.
