Night Veterinary Surgeon – Dorchester, Dorset Permanent | Part-time Confidential Opportunity The Vet Office is recruiting on behalf of a well-established 24-hour small animal hospital in Dorchester, Dorset , recently refurbished and located just a short drive from the stunning Jurassic Coast . This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Night Veterinary Surgeon to join a busy, forward-thinking, multi-disciplinary hospital , offering exposure to a wide and varied emergency and critical care caseload within a highly skilled and supportive team. The Hospital 24-hour, multi-disciplinary small animal hospital with strong regional presence Provides out-of-hours care for multiple local practices Highly experienced clinical team including: Certificate holders in Diagnostic Imaging, Internal Medicine, Dermatology, and ECC Colleagues currently undertaking Surgical and Dental certificates Supportive and collaborative environment with excellent opportunities for learning and development Facilities include: CT scanner (internal & external referrals) Digital X-ray and ultrasound Dental X-ray Endoscopy Two sterile operating theatres Fully equipped in-house laboratory Hydrotherapy unit Peripatetic physiotherapist Isolation facilities Separate dog and cat wards (ISFM Silver Cat Friendly status) 24/7 hospitalisation supported by experienced nursing team The Role Night Veterinary Surgeon – Sole Charge Supported overnight by an experienced RVN Rota: 2 night shifts (Monday & Tuesday) every 3 weeks Hours: 18:45 – 09:00 Average working hours: approximately 9.5 hours per week ECC experience highly desirable Confidence in managing emergency cases independently is essential Candidate Requirements RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon Minimum 4 years UK clinical experience Proven experience in emergency and out-of-hours work Comfortable working sole charge overnight Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team Whats on Offer Competitive salary (pro rata, dependent on experience) Private medical insurance from day one Health cash plan including dental, physio, optical & 24/7 GP access Life assurance (3x salary) 5–6 weeks annual leave + bank holidays (pro rata) Additional paid personal day (Day for You) CPD allowance: £1,500 per year + 3 paid CPD days (pro rata) Funded certificate opportunities RCVS, VDS & professional fees paid Sabbatical options based on length of service Cycle to work scheme & interest-free travel loan Visa sponsorship and relocation support available if required Why This Role?
