Finance Officer – Merseyside – January 2026

A successful and financially stable secondary school in Merseyside is seeking a skilled and dependable Finance Officer to join its business support team from January 2026. This is a key operational role within the school, supporting both day-to-day financial processes and longer-term planning. The Role You will work as part of a small, experienced finance team, reporting to the School Business Manager and supporting senior leaders with accurate, compliant financial management. Key responsibilities include: Processing purchase orders, invoices and reconciliations Monitoring departmental budgets and expenditure Supporting monthly and year-end financial reporting Maintaining accurate records for audit and compliance purposes Liaising with suppliers and contractors Supporting procurement and value-for-money initiatives The Working Environment The school operates with well-established financial systems and realistic deadlines.
