About the position

A respected 11–18 secondary school in Wakefield is looking to appoint a passionate Teacher of History to join its thriving Humanities department from January 2026. The History Department History is a valued subject within the school, with strong outcomes at GCSE and A-Level. The curriculum is knowledge-rich and carefully sequenced, designed to build deep historical understanding alongside analytical writing skills. Students study a broad and balanced range of topics, including: Medieval and early modern Britain Twentieth-century global history Historical interpretations and source analysis Extended writing and structured debate The department places a strong emphasis on helping students think like historians — questioning sources, forming arguments and writing with precision. The Role You will teach History across KS3–KS5, delivering lessons that prioritise depth, discussion and enquiry. Teachers work collaboratively, sharing resources, assessments and strategies for supporting different learners.
