About the position

A respected 11–18 secondary school in Wakefield is looking to appoint a passionate Teacher of History to join its thriving Humanities department from January 2026. The History Department History is a valued subject within the school, with strong outcomes at GCSE and A-Level. The curriculum is knowledge-rich and carefully sequenced, designed to build deep historical understanding alongside analytical writing skills. Students study a broad and balanced range of topics, including: Medieval and early modern Britain Twentieth-century global history Historical interpretations and source analysis Extended writing and structured debate The department places a strong emphasis on helping students think like historians — questioning sources, forming arguments and writing with precision. The Role You will teach History across KS3–KS5, delivering lessons that prioritise depth, discussion and enquiry.
