Position: Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Location: Neasden, North West London Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time / Term-time only Salary: £85–£115 per day (depending on experience) Start Date: Immediate and Ongoing Start Dates Available About the Role A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Neasden, North West London is seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join their SEN team. This is an ideal opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs to reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. The SEN TA will work with pupils with a variety of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), speech and language difficulties, and learning difficulties . Support may be provided on a one-to-one basis , in small intervention groups , or within the classroom, depending on the child’s individual requirements. The school emphasizes inclusion, wellbeing, and early intervention, creating an environment where every child feels safe, supported, and empowered to learn. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping children build confidence, independence, and a love of learning. Key Responsibilities Provide tailored academic and emotional support to pupils with SEN Assist teachers with the implementation of EHCPs, IEPs, and behaviour management plans Collaborate with the SENCO, teaching staff, and support staff to meet pupil needs Support pupils’ social, emotional, and communication development Promote positive behaviour using consistent strategies aligned with school policies Adapt learning resources and activities to meet individual needs Support pupils during lessons, transitions, and break times Encourage independence, confidence, and self-esteem Observe and monitor pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff Maintain safeguarding standards and ensure pupil wellbeing is prioritised The Ideal Candidate Patient, empathetic, and calm under pressure Passionate about supporting children with additional needs Confident working with pupils who may display challenging behaviour Flexible and adaptable in a busy school environment Strong communicator and effective team player Reliable, proactive, and committed to helping pupils succeed Essential Requirements Experience working with children or young people with SEN Understanding of common SEN conditions and support strategies Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) Right to work in the UK Desirable (Not Essential) SEN-related qualifications or training Experience in specialist provisions or SEN units Team Teach or behaviour management training Background in education, psychology, care, or youth work Why Neasden?
