About the position
Location: Havering, London Contract Type: Full-time We are seeking a committed, enthusiastic, and caring Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Havering. This is a rewarding opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting children’s learning and wellbeing and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning within a supportive school environment. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, the SENCo, and other support staff to provide targeted support to pupils across the school. This may include working with pupils who have special educational needs, additional learning needs, or those requiring extra academic or emotional support. Support will be delivered through in-class assistance, small group interventions, and one-to-one work where appropriate. You will play a key role in helping pupils access the curriculum, develop confidence, and build independence. This includes adapting learning activities, reinforcing key concepts, and supporting pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour. Creating a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment will be central to your role. The Learning Support Assistant will also contribute to monitoring pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff, and supporting assessment processes. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure pupils receive consistent and effective support. This role is ideal for someone with previous experience working with children or young people, particularly within a school or educational setting.
