About the Role As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will support children aged 3–5 during a critical stage of development. You will assist with daily routines, learning activities, observations, and assessments, while also providing targeted support to children with additional needs, including speech and language delays, social communication difficulties, and emerging SEND. This role requires a caring, observant, and proactive individual who understands early child development and the importance of creating a safe, secure, and engaging learning environment. Key Responsibilities Your responsibilities will include: Supporting the delivery of the EYFS curriculum through play-based learning Assisting with phonics, early reading, mark-making, and early maths Supporting communication and language development Providing one-to-one or small group support for children with additional needs Supporting emotional regulation, social interaction, and behaviour Assisting with personal care, toileting, and hygiene routines Supporting children during transitions and daily routines Observing, recording, and contributing to assessments and progress tracking Supporting indoor and outdoor learning environments Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, and parents Promoting independence, confidence, and positive self-esteem Supporting safeguarding, health, and safety procedures The Ideal Candidate The school is seeking an EYFS Teaching Assistant who: Has experience working within an EYFS or nursery setting Has a strong understanding of child development and the EYFS framework Is warm, patient, and nurturing Has excellent communication and teamwork skills Is flexible and proactive Desirable but not essential: Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification Experience supporting SEND in EYFS Knowledge of phonics programmes Training & Professional Development The school provides: EYFS-focused CPD and training SEN and inclusion development opportunities Support from experienced Early Years leaders A collaborative and supportive working environment This role is ideal for those pursuing a long-term career in early years education or teaching.
