About the position
Role Description (Position typically requires 8+ years of relevant experience) For our client we are hiring CMF Designer Specialist. As a CMF Designer Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and designing Color, Material, and Finish (CMF) solutions for visible vehicle surfaces and components across exterior and interior applications. The role combines strong creative capability with technical depth, sustainability awareness, and brand-driven design execution. You will lead CMF development from concept through industrialization, ensuring high design quality across all visual surfaces, both on- and off-board the vehicle, independent of development methodologies or technologies used. Acting as a CMF specialist, you will contribute to brand strategy, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and mentor others within the design organization. Key Responsibilities Develop and design surface materials including colors, trims, textiles, gloss levels, and grains for visible vehicle surfaces and parts Create and communicate CMF concepts through sketches, renderings, illustrations, CAD models, and 3D images Lead development and construction of digital and physical CMF models Secure sustainable and environmentally responsible material choices aligned with brand and regulatory expectations Execute and interpret directives related to brand design strategy, ensuring consistent delivery of brand promise Develop CMF design solutions that fully realize the intended design vision Secure design quality from suppliers, ensuring visual and material consistency across all delivered parts Collaborate closely with design, engineering, purchasing, and supplier teams throughout the development lifecycle Understand and support the long-term brand ambitions, contributing to future CMF and design strategies Specialist-Level Responsibilities Lead and contribute to complex CMF projects and group tasks Actively coach, mentor, and develop team members Serve as a role model for cutting-edge thinking and continuous improvement Act as a master trainer, coach, and/or mentor, contributing to lifelong learning within the organization Demonstrate a solid T-shaped competence profile, with deep CMF expertise supported by a broad, all-round design toolkit Be a recognized influencer within the company network, shaping discussions and decisions beyond immediate assignments Clearly articulate and demonstrate how CMF expertise creates value beyond one’s own organizational scope Required Qualifications & Experience 8+ years of relevant experience in CMF Design within automotive or related industries Strong expertise in color, materials, finishes, and surface design Proven experience with 3D digital modeling and physical model development Strong understanding of brand-driven design processes Experience working with suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders Ability to balance creative vision with technical feasibility and sustainability requirements Excellent communication skills, both visual and verbal Personal Profile Creative, structured, and quality-driven Strong influencer with the ability to lead without formal authority Strategic mindset with attention to detail Passionate about materials, sustainability, and future mobility design Committed to continuous learning and knowledge sharingPlace of work
