We are currently seeking an exceptional, ambitious and highly knowledgeable Head of Science to join a prestigious Independent School in Oxford. This is a full-time, permanent leadership post beginning January 2026, offering a rare opportunity to lead a thriving and academically elite Science Department. About the Science Department The department is one of the school’s strongest areas, offering: • State-of-the-art laboratories • Highly experienced specialists across all three sciences • Exceptional GCSE and A-Level outcomes • Strong uptake into Oxbridge and Russell Group science degrees • Skilled technicians and excellent practical resources About the Role • Leading the Science Department strategically and operationally • Driving exceptional teaching, learning and outcomes across KS3–KS5 • Line-managing staff and leading departmental CPD • Overseeing curriculum design, assessment and development • Maintaining high academic standards and promoting subject ambition • Supporting Oxbridge and university preparation Experience and Qualifications • Strong Science degree • PGCE with QTS • Substantial experience at KS5 • Previous leadership experience desirable • Ability to inspire excellence in others Salary Highly competitive Independent School pay scale.
