About the position

Position: Child Care Teacher Openings: 6 Location: Richmond, VA (23298) Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7.5-hour shift between 6:00 AM – 8:00 PM Start Date: Target 3/2/26 Salary : $38,000 – $48,000 annually (DOE) Overview We are seeking Child Care Teachers to support children ages 6 weeks to 6 years in a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. This role utilizes the Reggio Emilia approach , emphasizing creativity, independence, and child-led exploration. Teachers work collaboratively to support cognitive, social, emotional, and motor development while partnering closely with families. Key Responsibilities Plan and implement age-appropriate lesson plans using the Reggio approach Create a safe, clean, and nurturing classroom environment Document daily activities, progress, and observations; communicate with parents Support children's cognitive, social, emotional, and motor development Supervise classroom aides and volunteers as assigned Maintain compliance with licensing, accreditation, and infection-control standards Participate in staff meetings, training, and continuing education Requirements Education (one of the following): Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Psychology, or related field High school diploma plus 40+ hours of early childhood coursework Equivalent combination of education and experience Experience: Minimum 2 years working with children ages 6 weeks–6 years (paid or unpaid) Ability to work in a fast-paced, active, and occasionally noisy environment Preferred Bachelor's or Master's in Early Childhood or Elementary Education CDA (Child Development Associate) certification Experience with infants (6 weeks–2 years) Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia philosophy
